Scope & ContentThe Women's March on January 21, 2017 was a nationwide--and worldwide--march and demonstration against policies of the first Trump administration regarded by many as misogynistic and abridgements of women's rights. The four digital photographs in this collection concern the participation of women from Yolo County in the demonstration at the State Capitol Building in Sacramento. The knit pink "pussy" cat hat was worn by Mel Russell, a participant from Woodland--and similar hats were worn by many other female demonstrators. These hats became a symbol of resistance whenever women gathered to protest.
