W. J. Clark house located a half mile west of Bacchini's Corners on Zamora road in Capay. Built about 1851 by W. J. Clark, it is believed to be the oldest building in Yolo County. At the time this photo was taken, Clark's grandson Stafford Dawley was using it as a residence. The age of the house is shown by the materials used in its construction. Large hand-hewn timbers form its foundation, and in many places wooden dowels are used instead of nails. An unusual brick fireplace attests to the ingenuity of the builder. Remnants of Italianate dentils and bracketed cornices.
