Framed hair wreath of various colors of hair mounted on thin wire. Picture has beige background. Walnut frame 27" x 21" X 6". History: Emma Charlotte May Cooper, grandmother to Annette Cooper Operhall, made this wreath. Emma Charlotte May was born in California in 1856. After her marriage to Joseph T. Cooper in 1877 in Yountville, California, they moved to Yolo County in 1882 to the farm they had bought near Cacheville. The wreath hung for many years in the front parlor of their home at this ranch. Sometime during the 1960's Emmett C. Cooper, father to Annette Cooper Operhall, gave this wreath to his niece, Gladys May Scarlett Owens. It was she who donated it to the Yolo County Historical Museum. The connection to the Gibson family is that Joseph T. Cooper's mother Mary Ann Gibson Cooper, was a sister to William Byas Gibson [1831 - 1906]. Mr. Gibson's other sister, Emily Dixon GIbson, was also married to a cooper, Luther BlakeCooper.
