OmfattningThe collection contains 22 field notebooks created by Yolo County Surveyor Louis P. Everett. The survey notes cover primarily the Capay Valley area, as well as some surveys in Woodland, Washington, north Yolo, Davisville, Winters and Buckeye area, Merritt Island, and other locations. Several surveys were done for railroad companies. The bulk of the surveys cover the late 1870s through the 1890s.
Everett was born in Warsaw, Illinois in 1851, moved to California in 1864, and settled in Yolo County in 1865, where he worked as a civil engineer and farmer. He was elected County Surveyor in 1879, serving for a two-year term, and elected to the position again in 1882. He died in 1927. -
