Child's Quilt. Beautifully quilted with very small handsewn stitches. The fabric is red and white cotton. The squares of the quilt have 17 pieces in each square - nine red and eight white. There is a total of 1728 pieces in the quilt. The cotton batting lining shows some cotton seeds which indicates either home-grown cotton or else poor removal of the seeds by machine. Since the quilt traveled from Virginia, home grown cotton assumed. Exhibitable HISTORY - made by donor's paternal grandmother - Mrs. Clemons. It was brought from Virginia to Ohio in a covered wagon.
