Black silk taffeta cape with vertical inserts of chenille ardorned lacy braid fringe. 3 1/2" black silk fringes. Triangular cut, 2 tiers. Upper tier 19 1/4" center back to 24" center front in length. Lower tier 16 1/2" center back tapered to 13" center front. Horizontal chenille and braid stripe 3" above hem. History: Belonged to Mrs. Canning, the mother of Alletha C. Epperson and grandmother of donor.
