Red sandstone, tapered, 11" x 8 1/2" circ 07. light grey quartzite, broken segment: 3" long x 6 1'4" circ. 08. Dark grey quartzite: 6" long x 6 1/4" circ. History: Donor states tools were unearthed by her husband c. 1970 while farming on Cassel property between Woodland & Davis. Note: When a Native American woman died her favorite mortar was "killed" by friends or family to honor her, so mortar couldn't be used again -- according to archeologist Martha Proctor.
