Signed and dated lower left: Kate Stephens 1873 (or 8) Size: 32" x 52"; ornate gilt frame 44" x 65" History: "Kate Stephens Craig was born in Madison, CA, to John Dickson and Mary Alexander Stephens, Yolo County pioneers. In 1874 she married Joseph Craig in San Francisco. They moved to Woodland in 1878 where she lived for the rest of her life."--from publication, :Early California Artists", April-July 1989, YCHM. Exhibited at the YCHM, 4-7-89, item #7. Donorois grandson of Kate Stephens Craig. He stated that Kate Stephens Craig also painted chinaware.
