[nb-NO]Exent[nb-NO]This collection contains drawings, ephemera, correspondence, construction documents, and property related records pertaining to William R. Fait (1877-1930) and his son Harrison Fait (1911-1995).
William R. Fait (1877-1930) was a prominent contractor and farmer in Woodland who was a native of Indiana. After living in Spokane, Washington and marrying Katherine E. Brasfield in 1901 and fighting in the Spanish-American War came to Woodland. Some of the buildings that Fait was well known for include the First Methodist Church, manual training building at the Woodland High School, Bank of Italy branch in Knights Landing, the Woodland Clinic, and the Fait apartments. He passed away in the Letterman hospital in San Francisco after having undergone brain surgery. He is buried at the Presidio in San Francisco.
Harrison H. Fait (1911-1995) was the youngest son of William R. Fait and Katherine E. Fait. He was born in Spokane, Washington in 1911 one year before the Fait family moved to Woodland, California. His father became an architect and builder and his mother served as a member of the Board of Education. He was educated in Woodland schools and moved to Sacramento in 1936 where he pursued a career in radio. During World War II Fait worked at McClellan Air Force Base repairing radios and electronics. He lived out the rest of his life in Sacramento. He passed away in 1995 at the age of 84 and is buried at Sierra Hills Memorial Park. -
