Aerial survey of Woodland and environs, from County Road 98 east to the rice fields around Elkhorn, and from County Road 19A south to County Road 24A. While the original purpose of the photos can not be confirmed, it is most likely that they were used in the General Plan that the City of Woodland and Yolo County jointly filed in 1980.
Photos are marked with series numbers (80-25-X) and are arranged in two binders following the series designation. If the photos are assembled to form a map, beginning with 80-25-5, they form columns of 9 pictures each, running north to south, then beginning again at the top of the next column, slightly to the east of the first set of photos. These columns begin to dissolve outside of the Woodland city limits and are indistinguishable by the end of the series.
The collection documents the expansion of Woodland in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Foundations for homes along the southwestern and northeastern boundaries of the city are visible in this collection, and the extension of roads and highway 113 are both clearly shown in the aerial photos. Additionally, some photos document what appear to be both abandoned and current wastewater treatment facilities to the east of the town. The survey was done in early spring, and as a result, landmarks are visible with a minimal amount of shadow and tree-cover.
