Locomotive and caboose of the California Pacific Railroad at Davis, then Davisville, station during 1868. The railroad had opened from Vallejo via Suisun and Dixon to Davis on August 24, 1868 and to Washington, across the river from Sacramento, in November 1868. Following completion of the bridge, service through to Sacramento began January 15, 1870. The branch line to Davis from Knights Landing was in operation about September 23, 1869; to Yuba City, November 22, 1869; and across the Feather River into Marysville during the latter part of 1870.
