Man's Chinese robe. Navy blue silk with round Chinese floral designs woven in brocade. Lined with pale-blue silk. Spherical, patterned buttons with shanks down left side of front; braid loops down right side seam. Two 16" slits up sides of skirt, one 20" slit up center back. Sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip 63". Sleeves very wide (15") with end 15 1/2" seamed to main part of robe. (Chinese Clothing) Note: A man's formal robe is called a pao-zi. History: Part of a collection of Chinese and Indian clothing and textiles brought to the United States by Dr. Charles Richard Cook, medical missionary in India at turn-of-century (1900).
