Oak. Pressed wood top rail with pattern of flattened fan motif topped by band with flowers. Over that is a row of 12 large circles enclosed by a flattened C scroll. The ends and upper corners have foliage designs. The back has 8 turned spindles: the 2 end ones plainly turned, with a slight taper at the top; the 6 inner ones are much more elaborately turned. The arms, which curve under in front, are supported by 3 turned spindles apiece (font one heavier than the other 2). The seat is flat across the front and the back of the seat is segmentally curved. The seat has a flat, round lid with a round, recessed knob. Underneath is the compartment with an enamelled chamber pot. All 4 legs are turned and there are 2 stretchers, one per side. On the bottom of the seat is a red and gold label: "HEYWOOD BROS. & WAKEFIELD CO., SAN FRANCISCO, CAL." Similar to Invalid's Chair illustrated in 1902 Sears Catalog. See also YO1-10X40-02 for chamber pot description.
