Kahki wool felt hat with leather bill; brass eagle above bill; brass buttons each end of leather strap just above bill. Inside: "Cole's Military Store. Manhattan, Kans." in gold letters. Worn by Dr. Ralph Kitchell, DVM, Major, Veterinary Corps. Uniform of U.S. Army, World War Two, China, Burma, India theater, 1943-46. He lived in Davis where he was a Professor of Veterinary Medicine until his death in May 1997.
