Chair part of dining room set. Walnut, with burl veneer trim. Shaped crest with ears. Center of crest has burl veneer circle with incised circular line. On either side of that are burled panels. An incised scroll continues out into each ear. Shaped side supports between back stiles and seat rails. Back stiles continue to form slightly curved back legs. Seat front rail slightly curved. Over each front leg is square with incised pattern in an x shape. Center of front rail has long slightly raised panel and below that a shaped drop with an incised pattern. Front legs are tapered (AASLH furniture book calls them Louis XVI revival). New upholstery fabric, striated velveteen and braid. Note found under chair: "these chairs are part of Grandma's (Mrs. Dora Woodard). They are at least 100 years old.," ( in 1984) Fairly simple, factory-made chair.
