Rocking Chair: Walnut with lighter stripes of walnut burl trim; seat, back and tops of arms upholstered in tapestry (dark beige background with pink flowers and green leaves); back crest carved with fleur de lis, draped festoons are on sides; top of back is a segmental curve. The center carving (in very high relief) is an elaborated shiled tipped by C-scrolls and foilage. In the center of the shield is a stylized, symmetrical leaf-like motif. There is an "ear" at the lower corners of the chair, each with a carved tassel. This rocker is Neo-Grec (as defined by Naeve); the decorative motifs are fairly eclectic. This rocking chair belonged to Mrs. Mary Marvin Sweet Blowers.
